Wood'n Wildlife is the culmination of Mike Purcell's passion for wood carving. To call it a company is way too formal for Mike. It's more of a container
that allows him to work his magic which is to create beautiful custom carvings out of a hunk of wood. Mike's quality work and no-nonsense way of doing
things has brought people in from all over the world to buy his carvings. He has carvings in England, Japan, China, Germany, Australia, Israel, Canada,
Taiwan, as well as all across the United States.
He has been creating custom carvings since the mid 1980's. He claims that there isn't a type of wood out there that he hasn't used or tried to use.
He has a unique style of blending the natural wood tones with intricate detail. Mike mainly carves fish and waterfowl, but has been known to take on
some interesting projects. He has done whales, a hand doing sign language, and a tractor to name but a few.
Over the years Mike has also donated carvings to many charitible organizations most notably the WHA-TV auctions. Mike has been teaching wood carving for
more than 10 years through the Madison Area Technical College as well as privately. He continues to show his carvings at art shows, fishing shows, and
a few select stores across Wisconsin.
